Google sponsors 30m $ prize for space race

Google Inc has launched a space race to moon "Google Lunar X Prize" with a 20 million $ prize which goes to the first team that can land a rover on the moon by 2012. According to CNN, the Rover must travel on the lunar surface for at least 500 metres and send back images. there are 13 teams officially participating and the number is expected to grow. This is inspite of the fact that the mission will probably cost much more than the $20 million prize.
